    Hi,
I’m having real problems getting the Flickmation helper to work on a windows computer. I have a mac at home but don’t have a wireless network with which to transfer files. So I downloaded the helper onto my pc at work (which I’m not great at using), and installed java, but can’t open any of the files in the .zip folder that is downloaded. Even if I search for the “flickmationhelper.jar”, it doesn’t seem to exist.
Is there any way to transfer the files over USB? I imagine I wouldn’t have these problems on my mac.. If not, I’d appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks,
    Matt Wills

    Hello Matt,

Update: I have changed the web server to correctly identify FlickmationHelper.jar as a java archive file. This should stop Internet Explorer from renaming it.

The problem appears to be with Internet Explorer as it is renaming the “FlickmationHelper.jar” file to “FlickmationHelper.zip”. Therefore Windows will then treat the downloaded file as a compressed folder rather than pass it to Java. To work around the problem go to the FlickmationHelper page:

    http://www.massycat.co.uk/flickmation/export.html

right click on the download link and select “Save Target As…”. You will notice that the file name appears as “FlickmationHelper.zip”, change this to “FlickmationHelper.jar” and click save. You should then be able to run FlickmationHelper simply by double clicking on the newly downloaded file.

Thank you for bringing the problem to my attention as I did not know that Internet Explorer behaved in that way. I shall describe the work around on the download page to help others.

It is not possible to transfer the Flickmation files over USB.

    Ben
